It's been a long time

Well, my last post was titled "I'm still here" and that was in 2008. Since then I've continued to receive emails and comments from people who are in the process or are interested in obtaining Italian citizenship. I am so happy that my experience helped others. There isn't much new information relating to my Italian citizenship so that is why I haven't posted. However, there are a few new things that are on the horizon.

We had a child ten months ago and after he was born we registered his US birth certificate with the Italian Consulate in Boston. The Consulate then sent his birth certificate with Apostille to Italy to be recorded with the rest of our documents. While we don't have plans at this time to live in Italy any time soon, the next step will be to apply for our son's Italian passport. This is an easy process or so I am told and I will post the steps as we go through it.

More to come. Thank you to all for visiting this site and keep the questions coming.

Michael

Hello Michael - I am on my mission for Italian Citizenship. Did you ever use the 'Italian Citizenship and Genealogy Service' website? I need to get my Grandfather's birth certificate from Abruzzo. I am not certain what town, it might be L'aquilla (but even that is also like a county) so I would like to get assistance from a credible and reasonably priced professional service. Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated. Thank you Michael

Hello,

Thank you for the question. Yes, I used the website myitaliancitizenship.com (ICGS) for a lot of my research. I also used them to purchase some of the certificates I needed from Italy. With that said, I understand from others that the original owner left and then their service declined, but now it looks like it is a new site, so I am not sure how good it is. I'm sorry I don't have more updated information for you.

Best of luck.

Michael
