Getting Married
So finally our wedding day has come......and gone. It was a wonderful day, but it was over so quickly. One of the first things my new wife wanted to do was to go register at the Italian Consulate. Now that we are married, I have to change my status with the consulate here in Boston and submit our marriage certificate. This will then allow my wife to be eligible for Italian citizenship after three years. She would also be able to apply for a resident visa if we decide to move to Italy.
I have been continuing to receive positive feedback on my postings. I am glad that I can be of some help to those of you trying to obtain Italian citizenship. Continue to send me any questions you may have and I will do my best to try and answer them.
Ciao!

Ciao, Michael, and congratulations on your wedding!
Thank you for your blog. This is a much more helpful resource than the officials I have dealt with. It's also helpful to newbies, who might not realize that 6 months is not out of the ordinary for hearing back from a commune in Italy.
I have just finished gaining my Italian citizenship as well, and am looking forward to getting my passport now. The Italian Consulte in Philly seems to prefer using paper to communicate instead of email or the web, and I am too impatient.
Mainly, I am wondering if I need to go into the Consulate to apply for the passport, or can I just mail it in? If I can mail it in, I wouln't suppose you knew where to download I could it. Also, did you have your picture taken in the Consulate, or did you bring it in? Would a US passport photo work?
I am planning to spend 6 months in Italy starting in Feb 2008, living in each of the four towns of my grandparents. I would like to compare more notes later.
Thanks agian, for all your research!
